How to Make Gordon Ramsay Steak Pie
Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chuck steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Add beef cubes and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove beef and set aside. Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over vegetables and stir. Cook for 1-2 minutes until flour is lightly browned.
  5. Add tomato paste, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Return beef to the pot and stir.
  6. Bring mixture to a simmer, cover pot, and transfer to oven. Cook for 2 hours until beef is tender.
  7. Remove pot from oven and increase temperature to 400F. Roll out puff pastry and cut to fit over the pot.
  8. Brush beaten egg over the edges of the pot. Lay puff pastry over the top, pressing edges down to seal. Brush top with beaten egg.
  9. Return pot to oven and cook for 20-30 minutes until puff pastry is golden brown and crispy. Serve hot.
