Preparation:
- Boil water in a medium-sized pot. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes until the rice is cooked.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cabbage leaves and cook for 2 to 4 minutes or until tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Divide the beef mixture evenly among the cabbage leaves. Roll the leaves up and secure them with kitchen thread or string.
- Place the cabbage rolls in a large skillet over medium heat and pour the remaining tomato soup over them. Cover the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 40 minutes, skimming and draining frequently.
