Shannen Doherty, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ and ‘Charmed’ Star, Dies at 53

Doherty later starred in “Charmed” as Prue Halliwell, a witch fighting evil alongside her sisters. She directed several episodes before leaving the series at the end of its third season.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Doherty began her career as a child actor, appearing in “Father Murphy” and “Little House on the Prairie.” She also starred in films like “Heathers” and Kevin Smith’s “Mallrats.” Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Doherty was initially in remission but the cancer returned in 2019. She continued working and hosted the podcast “Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty.” She married photographer Kurt Iswarienko in 2011, and they filed for divorce in 2023.
