Hubby’s top pick, but when I’m strapped for time, this recipe is a lifesaver.

2 tbsp water

Directions

1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
2. Shape the meat mixture into 4 oval patties.
3. In a separate bowl, combine the dry onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, and beef broth. Stir until smooth.
4. In a hot skillet, lightly brown both sides of the patties (this step is optional but adds great flavor).
5. Place the patties at the bottom of your slow cooker.
6. Pour the soup mixture over the patties, ensuring they are fully covered.
7. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the patties are cooked through.
8. About 30 minutes before you’re ready to serve, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then stir it into the slow cooker. This will help thicken the gravy.
9. Cover and cook on high for an additional 30 minutes.
10. Serve the Salisbury steaks with the creamy onion gravy spooned over the top.

Variations & Tips
If you want to switch things up a bit, you can use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter version. You could also add some sliced mushrooms into the slow cooker for an extra boost of umami. For those on a gluten-free diet, simply swap the bread crumbs and soup for gluten-free versions.
