  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer on medium speed.
  4. Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is incorporated evenly.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to tough cookies.
  6. Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough. You can also add chopped nuts or other mix-ins if desired.
  7. Scoop Dough: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading.
