Doughnuts recipe

Ingredients:

For the Doughnuts:

  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying

For the Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk or water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, beat together the remaining sugar, eggs, and melted butter. Add the activated yeast mixture and mix until well combined.
