This traditional Amish pot roast is the perfect dish to whip up in your slow cooker for a memorable and delicious supper this evening! With a flavorful brown onion sauce, this pot roast is shredded after it has simmered in the crockpot until it falls apart. Soy sauce and prepared coffee are two unusual components that give the gravy a rich, intriguing taste.
This recipe for pot roast calls for only two ingredients—sliced white onion and beef—rather than the usual assortment of veggies like carrots and celery. A harmonious blend of umami taste is created by the sweet onion and salty meat. The lengthy cooking time required by this “low-and-slow” recipe makes it an ideal dish to whip up for supper after a hard day at the office.
