Indulge in Luxury: Millionaires Brownies – Rich, Decadent, and Irresistible!

Millionaire’s Brownies are a decadent treat that elevates the traditional brownie with layers of rich caramel and a smooth chocolate topping. Inspired by a recipe originally found under the name “Caramel and Chocolate Delights” in my great “Chocolate Golden Book,” these indulgent brownies have roots in Scottish tradition.

Often enjoyed during New Year’s celebrations, they were once served to the first visitor of the year. Imagine the joy of welcoming guests with these luxurious, Twix-like delights that promise a melt-in-your-mouth experience. Let’s dive into this unique recipe and create a batch of these unforgettable brownies.
Ingredients:
For the Biscuit Base:

  • 150 g of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 125 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the Toffee Layer:

  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 400 ml sweetened condensed milk

For the Chocolate Topping:

  • 250 g high-quality dark chocolate

Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Biscuit Base

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 160°C (320°F). Line a medium rectangular or square baking dish with parchment paper, ensuring the paper extends over the edges for easy removal later.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. This ensures an even distribution of the leavening agent and eliminates any lumps.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter with the sugar until you achieve a light, creamy mixture. This can be done using an electric mixer or by hand with a whisk.
  4. Combine and Bake: Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Prick the surface of the dough with a fork to prevent it from rising unevenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the surface is lightly golden. Set aside to cool slightly.
